OATH TAKING;OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT,MUHASSO

After a one year tenure in Office, it was now time for  another new Students Government to take over and assume  power in the MUHASSO Office of the President.
A contest  had  been  well conducted with spirit and ended with grace , Mathew Bernard Mandawa  and Adam Likiliwike  had been reinforced as the new Students’ Presidentand Vice President respectively. Our unity, culminating into a strong MUHAS Union, is a serious work of leaders and students  of  every generation and the inaugural ceremony was nothing different. It was a solemn pledge by the reigning President affirming the hopes of the majority voters, who, with one voice and accord confidently opted for a new change of leaders. For the new leaders ,it was the beginning of the enactment of the promisesof  commitment to live out in Students'  vision  through civility, courage, compassion, and character.
As it has always been, at the Inaugural Ceremony the President delivers  a speech, one that would carry the vision of the upcoming Government and share a calling that majority envisaged during the Campaigns. On the very same day of  inauguration, here is what the President had to say;
The newly elected MUHASSO President 2015/16 Hon. Mathew Bernard Mandawa taking an oath of Office .Alonside him is the Chairperson of Electoral Comission of Muhimbili,Hon. Bakari Obadia

MUHASSO.

FIRST PRESIDENTIAL SPEECH 2015/16

Dr  DCV Kakoko, Dean of students.
Officials from Deans of students’ office.
Mr. Alex Elifuraha, Outgoing  Muhasso – President
All  OutgoingMuhasso ministers, deputy ministers and secretaries
All my fellow students’  leaders [ religious, associations, clubs or organizations at Muhas.
And the house at Large…

Ladies and gentlemen.
Good afternoon .………..
As I  stand before you today, humbled by your courage, with a heartfelt gratitude of love,  I would like to first and formost thank our Lord God Almighty for granting us this memorable occasion in our  lives and  his love for us and our organization[MUHASSO].
I regard it as the highest honour to lead MUHASSO at this moment and that we have been chosen to lead into a new hope for change. I pledge to use all my strength and ability to live up to your expectations of me as well as of the MUHASSO.
I surely know if it were not his hand holding us from 10th April 2015 when we officially opened our manifesto selling movement and got acceptance to the majority of MUHASSO members living at Chole we would not be here happily standing and addressing before this number of MUHASSO students.
We all know, it was a hard work to preach changes that students will see and accept being part of them knowing that I was contesting against the Outgoing  MUHASSOPresident[Mr Alex Elifuraha] however we firmly stood, stayed focused, became more united and together we won.
I have a lot to be thankful for this afternoon,  I am thankful to MUHASSO members who loyally supported and voted for me and  Mr. Adam, a lot of thanks to my campaign team led by Mr AngidaAndondile and Mr .JumanneAkilimali, it was such an honour working with them.
My vice President  and I put our hearts and hopes into our campaigns and we shared similar vision and goals.

Ladies and gentlemen…
For a week of campaign, a lot of political issues [propaganda]arose aimed at weakening our unity as team Mandawa and Adam[Famously kwown as team AMA] and it was just for political battle we had between I, Mandawa and My friend classmate Alex Elifuraha.
It must be cleared today that all those things we heard were not true and those who follow our national political strands understand what I am saying.
We were two sides during compaign but we must be one now after results and accept the fact that when two are competing one must be a winner and at the end we all become one to support  a winner to lead our organization and that’s democracy.  We now need to go on with our philosophy of unity and that is   “Solidarity forever” as Muhas students.
After a difficult election, we must put politics behind us and work together to make the promises  of MUHASSO  available for every one of us here.

Ladies and Gentlemen..
We came before you requesting a job to serve you,  you gave us a job and we promise you to take it seriously focusing on solving existing problems and innovating new ones that will benefit us all primarily in academics and social life.
Soon, the entire MUHASSOLeadership[cabinet] will roll up our sleeves to begin tackling the problems our fellow students and MUHASSO community face. We ask you all to join us .
I am very optimistic that we can change the difficulties we face to things we hoped to see. I believe things happen for reasons.
For we must, together and without delay begin to make follow up on all issues affecting our academic progress from  class level where microphones, projectors, speakers have been hindering our conducive learning environment. Supplementary duration has been a cry for  most of clinical students, venue allocations for certain course is still challenging to MUHAS students.
For we must, together and without delay begin to negotiate and set a clear agreement with responsible offices on timely delivery of students meals and accommodation allowances, reasonable amount of special faculties provided to students and field allowance that matches with trips to be made for studies.
For we must, together and without delay form a team that will be responsible for assessing the quality, quantity and availability of all types of foods as per Contract  while observing a set cost is the one used for each type of food. Creating a way to reduce students quee during lunch time at campus and dinner at chole.
Together, we have experienced limited freedom of BIMA cards Uses among students whose names are  at the EMD and we need to address BIMA cards validity Span which will allow students to have cards at all times within their paid duration line.
For we must, together and without delay make close follow up on maintainace of existing  hostels including main campus hostel which has 50% damaged toilets doors and chole hostel as well. We need to ensure at least two students from a flow get trained on how to extinguish fire for owns’ safety.
The newly elected MUHASSO Vice  President 2015/16 Hon. Adam Likiliwike took an oath of Office later on the very same day

For we must, together and without delay make follow up on internet services including MUHASWiFi which is in processing and ensuring tele companies establish  their cheap services known as University offer. Opening our website or negotiating to get a domain from university website to ensure easy flow of information.
For we must, together and without delay reform  and ensure participatory sports, games and entertainment as a part of refreshment after curricular timetable. We need to innovates intellectual games such as talent days done at least one per semester.Availability of playing balls, jazzes and playing ground will be asset priority in sports arena.

For we must, together and without delay facilitate availability of transport for students uses as highly needed when we get events in our religion groups, academic associations or normal curricular schedule. We focus on having our own coaster bus in few coming months.
For we must, together and without delay establish networking of our organization within and outside MUHAS compound.
We must also reform our investment and establish new financing projects which primarily aims at helping students by bringing social services close to their compounds
In the last 13 months, under the Presidency of Mr Alex Elifuraha we have begun to overcome many of the challenges we have faced as a community. We are indebted to his leadership and graceful for his services he has rendered to our organization.
As I assume president office, my task before you all is to take and secure the gains we have made while focusing on solving the challenges that remain.
I promise that I will do my best to be worthy of the faith and confidence you have placed in me and my Vice president, Mr Adam.
CONCLUSIVELY
“we shall never be remembered by our existence in the world but by how much we impacted the world” as also once Isaac Newton said “Gentleness  is not measured by how much you take from the world but by how much you give to the world”

Thank you for coming, thank you for listening to me!!!
May Godbless Tanzania,
May God bless Muhasso.
May God bless all of you.

This was a speech delivered through dilligency and applauded by the crowd who turned up to watch history unveil right before their eyes. We wish the President all the best during his tenure in Office and may he forever safeguard the welfare of the MUHAS Community.

Ministry of ICT & PUBLICITY, MUHASSO
